KC police stop nearly 100 drivers without proper license at checkpoint

Nearly 100 drivers stopped at a checkpoint in Kansas City on Wednesday evening failed or were unable to show a valid license.

Police ran the driver’s license checkpoint from 6 to 11 p.m. at 27th Street and Troost Avenue.

Of the 1,285 vehicles stopped, 35 drivers were unable to show their licenses, 18 drivers had failed to obtain a license and 46 drivers were driving while their licenses had been suspended or revoked.

Police also found people who were wanted on 107 city warrants and six state warrants.

There were two other traffic violations, one possession of narcotics violation and one hindering or interfering with an officer.
