Roman numerals

The Super Bowls — they never stray;

They’re numbered in the Roman way.

But not this time — it’s odd, it’s iffy,

To use the normal number “50.”

(The X’s, V’s and I’s we know

At least this year are booted — go!)

Perhaps they fear the Roman “L”

Will spur the immature to tell

Such crudish jokes as “What the L?”

And others in that line as well;

Say, “In that game, we went through L!”

The snicker factor — who can quell?

But clearly, we’re the kind of folks

Who’d never say such tasteless jokes!
