Second online threat to Raytown High School is considered ‘non-credible’

Raytown High School students followed their regular schedules Tuesday morning despite a second social media threat that police and school district officials were monitoring.

Raytown school district officials continued to work with Raytown police investigators, who consider the threat to be “non-credible,” according a school district statement issued Tuesday morning.

Students attended classes with an “increased police presence” and a “heightened awareness” at the school, according to the statement.

On Monday morning, Raytown High School administrators initially kept some students on their buses as they investigated text messages that contained a threat to students at “Rhs” high school.

Administrators later took students inside the school, where they followed their regular class schedule.

Officials at several other schools across the country noted similar social media threats Monday, and the threat monitored Tuesday also was circulating in other states, according to the Raytown district.

Anyone with information about the threats can contact the Tips Hotline at 816-474-8477 or the school district at 816-268-7000.
