Belton Community Days are this week
The annual Belton Community Days festival starts Wednesday in Markey Park and runs through Saturday, with fireworks at 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
A carnival starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Opening ceremonies will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, followed by the Miss Belton contest. New events include a full royalty court competition, and a free Kids Pavilion for children 8 and under. The pavilion will include craft projects, an inflatable, Mad Science demonstrations and other child-oriented entertainment.
The George Elkins Memorial Parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, starting at Memorial Park, then west on Main Street and south toward Belton High School. The Missouri Strongest Man competition is at 1 p.m. Saturday.
