Summer heat arrives early in Kansas City

The Kansas City area will get a taste of summer this week as highs climb into the 90s and heat indexes approach 100 degrees.

The first day of summer is Saturday, but summer-like weather is expected to arrive Monday with highs in the upper 80s to 90 degrees. The heat index will be in the lower to middle 90s.

Highs Tuesday are expected to be in the lower 90s, but the heat index is expected to be in the upper 90s to 100 degrees.

On Wednesdays, highs will be in the upper 80s to 90 degrees with the heat index in the middle 90s.

Temperatures for the remainder of the week are expected to be in the middle 80s with heat indexes approaching 90 degrees.

Storms could return Thursday, but severe weather is not expected.
