Lee’s Summit elementary school student carried ‘hit list’

Lee’s Summit school and police officials this week investigated a “hit list” carried by an elementary school student.

The list contained the names of “a limited number” of students and staff members at Richardson Elementary, according to an email the Lee’s Summit School District sent to parents Wednesday.

School officials learned of the list Tuesday afternoon. A Lee’s Summit police school resource officer joined their investigation. School staff members contacted families of students named on the list Wednesday.

The situation “does not pose a threat” to students enrolled at the school at 800 N.E. Blackwell Road, according to the email. District officials do not believe anyone else was involved in creating the list.

They didn’t name the student or detail the discipline imposed. The student “is not in school at this time,” according to the email.

Lee’s Summit police officers continue to look into the incident, said Sgt. Chris Depue, a police spokesman.
