The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City has received a $1 million grant to promote its education programs over the next year.

The funds were provided by the David T. Beals III Charitable Trust, with Bank of America serving as trustee.

Beals was a former trustee of the museum.

The $1 million grant will be used for education programs and to celebrate the work of Rosie Riordan, head of the museum’s School and Educator Services program. Riordan joined the museum in June 2012. Last year, she received the Outstanding Art Educator-Museum Education award from the Kansas Art Association.
