Firefighters rescued a dog from a fire Sunday evening at a home in Olathe.

The fire displaced the family of two, who was not home at the time. The fire was reported after 4 p.m. in a duplex in the 1100 block of W. Ashbury Street. Arriving firefighters found the blaze in an upstairs bedroom and quickly extinguished the fire, according to the Olathe Fire Department.

Firefighters found the family’s dog, a 6-year-old border collie mix named Finley, unresponsive in the home’s living room. Firefighters took the dog from the home and gave her oxygen and stimulated her body.

After a few minutes, Finley responded. The family took Finley to a local veterinarian for an examination, according to the fire department.

No one was injured in the blaze, but two cats perished.
