Woman dies in head-on collision on icy Clay County road
A 28-year-old woman was killed Wednesday morning when she lost control of her vehicle on an icy road in Clay County and it collided head-on with an ambulance.
Her 5- and 6-year-old children riding in the back seat suffered minor injuries. Both children were wearing safety restraints, said Sgt. Collin M. Stosberg, spokesman for the Missouri Highway Patrol.
The accident happened about 8 a.m. as Teresa Howell of Excelsior Springs headed west on Missouri 92 at County Road RA, near Excelsior Springs. Howell was taken to a nearby hospital, where she died.
No one inside the ambulance was injured. No patients were being transported at the time, Stosberg said.
The Highway Patrol is investigating.
