A Raytown man died early Monday in a fiery one-vehicle crash in Raytown, police said.

A nearby resident saw the flames and called police about 1 a.m. Justin M. Cusick, 31, who was trapped inside the overturned car, died before rescuers reached the scene on Raytown Road near 85th Street, police said. Police do not think anyone else was in the vehicle.

Debris from the wreck littered the street for more than a block. Police found signs of the crash just north of 84th Street. Based on the car’s destruction, police think speed contributed to the wreck.
