Cold front plunges KC area into deep freeze
Dig out those long johns and plan on wearing them for the next few days.
A winter air mass arrived Monday night, plunging temperatures in Kansas and Missouri into a deep freeze.
Highs on Tuesday and Wednesday are not expected to climb much above 20 degrees.
Lows will hover around 6 degrees above zero. Wind chills will be between zero and 20 degrees below.
The National Weather Service says a relative warm front brings in the New Year in Kansas City, with highs in the mid-30s Thursday and nearly 40 on Friday and Saturday.
