I-35 lane closures are kicking in for Johnson County Gateway project
The massive $288 million Johnson County Gateway project is underway, and it will mean lane closures starting on Monday night.
Crews are overhauling the Interstate 435/Interstate 35/Kansas 10 interchange, the largest highway project ever done in Kansas.
Here are the nightly lane closures for bridge deck removal work for the upcoming widening of the eastbound I-435 bridge over I-35.
8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday: Southbound I-35 left lane just past 95th Street closed.
8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday: Northbound I-35 left lane just past 119th Street to Pflumm Road closed.
10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday: Southbound I-35 left two lanes just past 95th Street to I-435 closed.
10 p.m. to5 a.m. Tuesday: Northbound I-35 left two lanes just past 119th Street to Pflumm Road closed.
More than 230,000 vehicles move through this area on a daily basis. By 2040, that’s projected to grow to more than 380,000.
The work is expected to be completed by winter of 2016.
