Overland Park home suffers significant damage in fire
An Overland Park home suffered significant damage in a fire Friday night, forcing a family to evacuate but causing no injuries.
The fire in the 7800 block of West 98th Terrace apparently started around 9:30 p.m. on the back deck of the home and engulfed the sunroom, kitchen and attic by the time fire crews extinguished the blaze after an hour of work.
The homeowner said he had gone to sleep about 9 p.m. and was awakened soon after by one of his two adult sons.
