A man lying on tracks died Thursday when he was hit by a train in Kansas City, Kan.

Police received reports of an injury accident involving a train and a pedestrian about 9 p.m. at Kansas Avenue and Griffin Road. When officers arrived, they found the man dead from his injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates the man was lying on the tracks when he was hit by the train. The man’s identity was being withheld until police could positively identify him and notify relatives.

Police continue to investigate the accident.
