Park Hill School District names new superintendent
The board of the Park Hill School District announced at its meeting Thursday night that Jeanette Cowherd will become the district’s next superintendent.
Cowherd, who has been serving as Park Hill’s interim superintendent, replaces Scott Springston, who resigned for health reasons in April. The board voted unanimously to make her the next superintendent.
Before serving as the interim leader, Cowherd was the assistant superintendent for school improvement. She has been with the district for 11 years, previously serving as assistant to the superintendent and a building administrator.
While with Park Hill, Cowherd was influential in the development of the Smart Start early literacy program and led the development of the district’s strategic plan. She has earned recognition throughout Missouri for her leadership in online learning.
Prior to becoming involved in school administration, Cowherd was an instrumental music teacher in southwest Missouri and the Shawnee Mission School District.
