Kansas City police detectives are investigating after human remains were found Sunday in a wooded area near Interstate 29 and North Highland Avenue.

The remains were reported shortly before 11 a.m. in Anita B. Gorman Park near the Knollwood Apartments.

Police Chief Darryl Forté said the cause of death was unknown.
