Pedestrian’s vehicle found near fatal crash along southbound I-35 in Olathe

Police said they found a pedestrian’s vehicle near where he was struck and killed along southbound Interstate 35 in Olathe early Thursday.

A vehicle hit a 58-year-old man about 2:50 a.m. while he was in the roadway of I-35 between 127th and Santa Fe streets.

Although they found the vehicle the man was driving, police said they didn’t know why the man left his vehicle and entered the roadway.

The crash closed southbound I-35 in Olathe for nearly four hours while police investigated. The highway reopened by 7 a.m.
