Gardner police chief resigns
Gardner Police Chief Gerald Cullumber has resigned, the city announced Monday without explanation.
Cullumber was hired June 17 last year to replace the previous chief, Kenny Francis, who died. The city said Sgt. James Belcher Jr. was appointed acting captain of the Gardner Police Department.
Cullumber had more than 30 years of experience in law enforcement, including with the Lenexa and Edwardsville police departments.
