No injuries but heavy damage in Lee’s Summit townhouse fire
Fire heavily damaged a four-unit townhouse early Saturday in Lee’s Summit, fire officials said.
No injuries were reported, the Lee’s Summit Fire Department said.
When firefighters arrived, they saw fire shooting from the back and the end of a two-story building at 309 N.E. Timbercreek Drive. Police officers helped evacuate residents while firefighters knocked down the blaze, which spread through both floors into the attic.
It could have been worse, authorities said. Fire barriers between the units helped contain much of the smoke and fire to Unit 309, which suffered heavy damage. While smoke damage varied in the three other units, occupants were able to return. The American Red Cross assisted occupants of Unit 309.
