Emergency repairs to cause major delays on I-435 in Lenexa
Emergency pavement repairs are expected to cause major delays as traffic will be reduced to one lane along southbound Interstate 435 in Lenexa.
The work to repair the pavement began about 9 a.m. Monday and is expected to take until Wednesday morning to complete.
The emergency work is coming at a time when I-435 is reduced to two lanes while repair work is being done on the 87th Street bridge.
As part of the lane restrictions, southbound traffic was shifted partly onto the right shoulder. The shoulder, however, has not held up to the increased traffic, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.
Crews have to limit traffic to just one lane so that repairs can be made.
