Work on I-435 in Johnson County will close roads, ramps all weekend

Road work on eastbound Interstate 435 will close many lanes, ramps and roads near Kansas Highway 10 and Interstate 35 in Johnson County this weekend.

The Kansas Department of Transportation says to expect major traffic delays.

The work starts at 10 p.m. Friday and is expected to be done by 5 a.m. Monday, weather permitting.

▪ At 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13: All main lanes of eastbound I-435 from K-10 to I-35 will be closed.

▪ At 6 p.m. Saturday: All lanes of eastbound I-435 from K-10 to Quivira Road will be closed. (Closure will now be extended from I-35 to Quivira Road.)

Eastbound I-435 through traffic will detour using the recently opened eastbound collector-distributor road to northbound I-35 to eastbound 87th Street to southbound U.S. 69 to access eastbound I-435. Traffic headed to Quivira Road can use 95th Street.

▪ At 10 p.m. Friday: Southbound I-35 to eastbound I-435 ramp will be closed.

Southbound I-35 traffic will detour via southbound U.S. 69 to 119th Street back onto northbound I-35 to get to eastbound I-435. A U-turn at 119th Street and then back up the northbound I-35 to the eastbound I-435 ramp will only be available until 6 p.m. Saturday.

▪ At 10 p.m. Friday: The eastbound K-10 to Lackman Road exit ramp will be closed. The additional new Lackman Road exit from southbound/eastbound I-435 will remain open.

Traffic will detour on eastbound K-10 to southbound Renner Boulevard to westbound College Boulevard to access Lackman Road.

▪ At 10 p.m. Friday: Renner Boulevard to eastbound K-10/eastbound I-435 ramp will be closed.

Traffic will detour via the new I-35 collector-distributor road ramp and join eastbound I-435 detour via northbound I-35 to eastbound 87th Street to southbound U.S. 69 to get to eastbound I-435.

▪ At 6 p.m. Saturday: Northbound I-35 to eastbound I-435 ramp will be closed.

Traffic will detour via northbound I-35 to eastbound 87th Street to southbound U.S. 69 to access eastbound I-435.

▪ At 6 p.m. Saturday: Eastbound I-435 to Quivira Road exit ramp will be closed.

Traffic will detour via northbound I-435 to eastbound 95th Street to access Quivira Road.

Marked detours will be provided.

Advance message boards will alert drivers to the closures. Drivers should expect major delays during the weekend-long closures and must use alternate routes.
