Union Station officials announced Thursday that Science City had received a $250,000 grant from the David Beals Charitable Trust to enhance exhibits about human health.

A long-term strategic plan for Science City includes a human health initiative among five core areas of emphasis. Union Station officials plan to create more exhibit space and content to complement an exhibit about genetics that was created after the last Battle of the Brains competition.

Science City recently received an international award for visitor experience from the Association of Science-Technology Centers.

“This latest vote of confidence puts us that much closer to realizing yet another important milestone for Kansas City’s Science Center … more rich and relevant content focused on human health,” Union Station board chairman Bob Regnier said in a statement.
