Three students, two adults taken to hospital after school bus, car collide in south KC
Three middle school students were taken to a hospital as a precaution after a car hit their school bus on James A. Reed Road Friday morning.
The children, who attend Smith-Hale Middle School in the Hickman Mills School District, did not complain of injuries but were taken to be checked by doctors.
The drivers of the bus and car suffered minor injuries in the crash that occurred about 8 a.m. as the bus, which was eastbound on 91st Terrace, crossed James A. Reed Road, according to Kansas City Police Officer Timothy Harms.
A Ford Focus that was headed north on James A. Reed Road ran into the side of the bus.
Investigators will interview independent witnesses to confirm what happened.
There’s a stop sign on 91st Terrace. The Focus had the right of way, police said.
