Pilot is killed in Ray County plane crash
The 57-year-old pilot of a single-engine plane died in a crash Tuesday evening in Ray County.
The pilot was identified as Elizabeth Carleen-Stevens McGhee of Ortonville, Mich.
McGhee, who was traveling from Michigan to Wheeler Downtown Airport, reportedly lost radio contact about 7:30 p.m. Authorities searched the area near Missouri 13 and Route B and located the plane at 9:45 p.m, said Sgt. Collin Stosberg, a Missouri Highway Patrol spokesman.
Details of what led to the crash were not released.
McGhee was the only occupant. Federal authorities have been notified.
