State Rep. Lance Kinzer of Olathe will not seek reelection

Kansas state Rep. Lance Kinzer of Olathe announced on his website that he will not seek election to a sixth term.

“In consultation with my family I made a tentative decision in December of 2012 that my 5th full term would be my last, and today I am following through on that decision...” Kinzer posted.

He noted that his first speech on the House floor was in support of the amendment banning gay marriage and that his last substantive vote was against a budget that spent too much. He was a leading voice in the Legislature against abortion.

Kinzer endorsed Randy Powell to succeed him in the 30th District seat.
