Jackson County rededicates Stone Arch Bridge over Truman Road
The iconic Stone Arch Bridge over Truman Road was rededicated Wednesday after six months of renovations.
The Blue Ridge Boulevard bridge, which dates to the early 1900s, separates Independence from Kansas City and the unincorporated area of Blue Summit.
Crews reinforced the bridge and sealed the stone to extend its life, and lighting was added. Jackson County officials said the work was done for less than the budgeted $378,475.
Among those attending the ceremony were Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders and Independence Mayor Eileen Weir.
