Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost got a Tuesday call from the fan-in-chief, President Barack Obama.

Obama, flying to an appearance in New Jersey, called Yost from Air Force One.

“The President said the team was a lot of fun to watch and that they’d made long-suffering Royals fans justifiably proud,” said White House spokesman Josh Earnest, a well-known Royals fan. “He said he was looking forward to welcoming the team to the White House to celebrate their victory.”

No word on when that might happen.

Obama is a fan of the Chicago White Sox, but it does not appear he discussed the Royals’ well-known dust-ups with the Chicago club this year. Before the World Series he said he was pulling for the Chicago Cubs.
