Munday on Monday: November
November
November comes (as year demands);
It’s armed with two opposing hands:
An open hand in cheery wave
As if these balmy days to save
For weeks to come. But don’t forget
November’s lurking, colder threat:
In memory, you can’t have missed —
The other hand is clenched in fist
To batter us with sleet and snow
As early blasts of winter blow.
In years gone by, such wrath we’ve felt;
So which will be the hand we’re dealt?
