Body found in Cass County field

Authorities are trying to determine whether a body found in a field south of Harrisonville is a missing person from Independence.

Cass County Sheriff deputies found the body around noon Friday in a field near East 283rd and Interstate 49.

The sheriff’s office is working with Independence police, who are trying to determine whether the body is a person who was recently reported missing from Independence, a spokesman for the department said.
