One man killed, another arrested after accident at U.S. 56 and 159th Street in Olathe

One man was killed and one man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a two-vehicle accident early Thursday at U.S. 56 and 159th Street, Olathe police said.

According to a news release, a 31-year-old man was driving north on U.S. 56 before 3 a.m. when his car was struck by a vehicle that was westbound on 159th. The driver of the northbound vehicle was taken to a hospital, where he died.

The driver of the westbound vehicle, a 32-year-old man, was not injured. Police arrested him. The news release said “driving under the influence is being investigated as a possible contributing factor in this accident.”
