Woman killed in tree-cutting accident at Merriam home

A 29-year-old woman died Friday night in a tree-cutting accident in Merriam, according to police.

A family was trying to remove a large tree at a home in the 8400 block of West 64th Street about 7 p.m. The tree fell on the woman, who was taken to a hospital where she died.

Merriam police said that they were investigating but that it appeared to be an accident.

Police did not immediately release the woman’s name.
