Firefighters in Roeland Park extinguished a fire Wednesday night in a home’s garage in the 5300 block of Birch Street.

But their night wasn’t over.

They returned to the house at 2:40 a.m. Thursday after the fire reignited in part of the attic above the site of the original fire, said Chief Tony Lopez of Consolidated Fire District No. 2.

No one was injured in the first fire, and the residents were not home during the second fire.

Officials said they have yet determined how the original fire started.
