Early morning blaze damages Lee’s Summit home’s porch
An early morning fire that started on a porch threatened to destroy a Lee’s Summit home Thursday.
The home’s resident reported about 4:20 a.m. that the fire on the back porch was about to spread to the house in the 600 block of Northeast Short Street.
Firefighters saw that fire was coming from the back of the house and all residents had escaped safely. They extinguished the fire burning the roof over the porch and kept it from spreading to the house.
The fire heavily damaged the roof, but the house suffered only minor fire and smoke damage.
Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
