A motorcyclist died after colliding with a car during the height of Monday evening’s rush hour on Missouri 291 in Lee’s Summit.
The motorcyclist, who identity was being withheld until family could be notified, was headed north on Missouri 291 at the east junction of U.S. 50 about 5:15 p.m.
The motorcyclist collided with a car that was headed south on Missouri 291 and was preparing to go east on U.S. 50. The two vehicles wrecked in the intersection, causing extensive damage to the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car sustained minor injuries.

Missouri 291 was closed for more than two hours. The cause of the crash was being investigated.
