Support for gay marriage continues its remarkable rise.

Gallup said Wednesday that backing of gay marriage has reached 55 percent, a record high and 2 points higher than numbers recorded in 2013.

What’s more, support among Americans under 30 reported reached nearly reached 80 percent. The 78 percent support among that age group is an 8-point leap from 2013.

For those 65 and older, the support is the lowest at 42 percent.

The partisan divide on the issue is eye-opening. Some 74 percent of Democrats back gay marriage while just 30 percent of Republicans do.
