Hazmat crews cordon off part of Kansas City IRS building in white powder scare
Hazardous materials crews cordoned off part of the IRS building Wednesday morning after an employee found a suspicious white substance inside a package.
They went to the building in the 300 block of West Pershing Road about 7:15 a.m.
A female employee found the strange substance when she opened the package. As a precaution, the area has been cordoned off and isolated, said Battalion Chief James Garrett, a spokesman for the Kansas City Fire Department.
