Man fleeing Lenexa police is injured in jump off bridge
A 28-year-old man remained hospitalized Wednesday after he jumped off a highway bridge while fleeing from Lenexa police Tuesday.
Police estimate that he fell about 30 feet onto a grassy area. He suffered leg injuries.
Officers stopped the man for traffic violations about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday on the ramp from eastbound Interstate 435 to southbound U.S. 69. They were talking to him about drug paraphernalia found in his car when he turned, ran and jumped off the bridge, according to police.
The man, an Overland Park resident, had no warrants for his arrest or pending charges, police said.
