Former Royals stars will highlight playoff rally Wednesday in downtown KC

Jackson County and sports radio station 810 WHB will host a mid-day rally Wednesday in downtown’s KC Live! Block to cheer on this year’s Kansas City Royals and celebrate the 1985 World Series winners.

The event is 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Among the ‘85 Royals set to attend the free Revive ’85 rally are Frank White, Willie Wilson, Dennis Leonard and Danny Jackson. Other former Royals scheduled include Al Fitzmorris, Willie Aikens and John Mayberry.

Members of the public will get vouchers as they file in good for hot dogs, popcorn, soft drinks and water. The first 400 are promised T-shirts.

The former ballplayers will be interviewed and sign autographs. County Executive Mike Sanders and WHB talker Steven St. John are the hosts.

Sanders said the county organized the event but used no tax dollars.
