One person killed in three-vehicle wreck at 23rd and Jackson

One person was killed and three others were injured Monday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash at 23rd Street and Jackson Avenue.

Police said the crash occurred about 1:30 p.m. when a black GMC pickup headed north on Jackson Avenue ran a red light, striking the driver’s side of a gray Buick sedan that was headed west on 23rd Street.

The force of the crash sent both vehicles into a southbound black Hyundai that was stopped on Jackson and a stoplight pole on the northwest corner of the intersection.

The driver of the Buick was pronounced dead at the scene by Kansas City Fire Department medical personnel. Three passengers in the Buick were taken to hospitals with injuries that were not life threatening.

The driver of the Hyundai and a passenger were not injured. The condition of the driver of the pickup was not available.
