One dead and one injured in Interstate 29 motorcycle accident

One person died and a second person was injured Thursday in a motorcycle accident on Interstate 29 just northwest of Kansas City International Airport.

The accident, which occurred about 1:30 p.m., closed southbound I-29 near Interstate 435.

The operator of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle that was pulling a two-wheeled trailer apparently lost control, said Sgt. Collin Stosberg of the Missouri Highway Patrol. The operator and a passenger were thrown from the motorcycle, Stosberg said.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, Stosberg said. The passenger, the driver’s spouse, was taken to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries, he added.

Family members of the victim, a Kansas resident who was 41 years old, were being notified.
