Two more measles cases for Clay County — in the same family
The mother and a sibling of the Clay County infant diagnosed with measles also have the disease, health officials said Friday.
That brings to three the number of people in Clay County diagnosed with the highly contagious disease. Earlier this week officials announced that an unvaccinated infant had the disease after the family traveled abroad. The infant was treated and released from a hospital.
“This disease can be easily transmitted from person to person in a closed environment,” Clay County Health Director Gary Zaborac said in a release. “It is not unexpected to see a cluster of measles cases occur within the same household.”
