Nine-year-old girl dies in North Kansas City wreck
A 9-year-old girl was killed and her 5-year-old sister was injured Wednesday morning when the vehicle driven by their father left a road in North Kansas City and struck another vehicle.
The accident occurred about 6:50 a.m. at Burlington Street and East 13th Avenue.
Police said Kenyel Good was driving north on Burlington when he briefly turned his attention to the children in the back seat. That caused him to veer off the road, and his vehicle hit a parked flatbed pickup truck.
Ke-Aire Good died of a traumatic head injury. The other girl was taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital and was in stable condition.
Both children were wearing seat belts and were properly restrained, police said.
