School news in brief

Jean Selby, a middle school principal in Columbia, will be the next middle school principal in the Belton School District.

She will replace Michele Norman, who will leave the district at the end of the current academic year.

Selby has been in school administration since 2005. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education (specifically grades 1-8) from William Woods College. She obtained her masters, educational specialist and doctoral degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Selby will be working at the district’s new middle school building.
