Measles reported in Clay County infant
Clay County health officials say an unvaccinated infant there has been diagnosed with measles after the family returned from traveling abroad.
The infant, who does not attend day care, was treated at an area hospital and released. Members of the family are being vaccinated.
Measles is highly contagious but rare in the United States, officials say. Still, there have been 187 cases reported in 17 states this year, including Missouri.
Symptoms include fever, rash, cough, runny nose and red, watery eyes.
