Jury convicts KC man in rape
A Jackson County jury late Monday convicted a Kansas City man of first-degree statutory rape.
The jury found Richard L. Evans, 44, guilty. The victim in the case was a 13-year-old girl, said Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.
Evans, who was convicted as a prior and persistent sex offender, faces life in prison without parole. He will be sentenced on July 11.
