Eastgate Middle School prowler has criminal record
Clay County authorities have identified the unarmed masked man who was arrested Monday after he climbed onto the roof of a Northland middle school.
The 31-year-old Kansas City resident has not been charged in Monday’s incident, but he pleaded guilty in 2012 to resisting arrest and possessing marijuana.
On Monday, authorities were called to Eastgate Middle School at 4700 N.E. Parvin Road about 10:30 a.m. after the principal spotted the man on the school’s roof. The intruder was not wearing a shirt and may have used a shirt as a mask, police said.
Authorities surrounded the building, and the school was placed on lockdown. Students were sent to a nearby high school.
Police did not know why the man was on the roof or how he got there. He likely climbed a utility pole.
Police used a stun gun to took him into custody.
