Jackson County murder charges filed against 25-year-old who allegedly shot 55-year-old in face
Jackson County prosecutors on Tuesday charged a 25-year-old Kansas City man with murder after he allegedly shot another man in the face early Monday during an argument.
Prosecutors charged Abdul Q. Glast with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Michael Dawkins, 55, just after midnight Monday near Linwood Boulevard and Holmes Street.
Two witnesses told police they were walking down the street with Glast near a gas station when Glast confronted Dawkins, who had just crossed the gas station parking lot. The pair argued loudly for a few seconds before the shooting happened, according to court records.
Police believe Glast knew Dawkins but they don’t know why the pair argued. Police believe Glast may have been intoxicated.
Officers arrested Glast Monday afternoon as he walked along Troost Avenue. Glast denied involvement in the killing.
