Police release name of teen killed by train in Independence

Independence police on Wednesday identified a person struck and killed by a train Friday as 16-year-old John M. Crownover.

The train struck Crownover, of Independence, about 8:15 p.m. near 23rd Street and West Southside Boulevard, police said. He was a junior at Truman High School and also attended Herndon Career Center, according to an online obituary.
