Lee’s Summit man charged with shooting son

A Lee’s Summit man is charged with shooting his son after the two argued over the father’s attempt to evict the son from the home.

Chad M. Beatie, 40, is charged with first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action. Police said T.B. Beatie, 20, was shot through the abdomen with a .45-caliber handgun. He was hospitalized and is expected to recover.

Witnesses said the two men were drinking while working on a motorcycle in the garage of the house at 1740 N.E. Ridgeview Dr. when they began arguing and fighting. The victim called 911 shortly before 2 a.m. to say that he had been shot.

Prosecutors asked that bond be set at $250,000.
