Two new charges added in highway shooting case
Additional charges were filed Friday against the suspect accused in a string of shooting incidents along Kansas City-area highways.
A Jackson County grand jury indicted 27-year-old Mohammed P. Whitaker of Grandview on 20 charges — the original 18 he faced related to nine shootings, plus two charges stemming from a March 18 shooting on Interstate 70 near Missouri 7 in Blue Springs.
In that incident, a bullet pierced a car door and hit the driver in the leg.
The new felony charges are unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action, prosecutors said.
Whitaker remains in custody, and his bond is set at $1 million.
